Vancouver Heritage: Sylvia Hotel

On the edge of English Bay is a beautiful ivy covered heritage building which is the Sylvia Hotel.  It's a nice getaway from the summer crowds at English Bay.  You can sit on the patio and enjoy the same view without the noise.  The Sylvia Hotel is beautiful.  The vines create a unique 'green nature' look and blends nicely with Stanley Park.

If you have nothing to do one day, walk down to English Bay and then walk over to the Sylvia Hotel to enjoy the architecture and then the patio.  It was built in 1912 and is still standing.  I can't believe that I've passed by this building but never really stopped to read the history or truly enjoy the architecture.  So when you visit, be sure to stop and be fully 'present' to take a closer look.

If you have visitors, here's a great place for them to stay that is steps away from English Bay and Stanley Park.  This was part 1 of my heritage building tour.  Stay tuned for more!
