Seattle has a lot to offer such as my favourite camping and adventure store REI. It also hosts different attractions such as the Space Needle and the Museum of Flight.
The Museum of Flight is a short 15 minute drive out of downtown and it is close to the Boeing operations. It has ample parking and the airplanes outside for you to view. It is rare to be able to get so close to view planes from WWI, WWII with the monoplane, biplane and triplane.
It's amazing to see how it started with wood planes and you get to enter the Red Barn which showcases the invention of the plane from the beginning. You can see the beginning of air mail and how they were constructed with wood shop tools in a barn. We have come a far way from that today. It's always to see the engineering from the basics and where it all started from.
I loved the fact that there are over 40 planes at the museum for you to see and you can go around each plane to see it from all angles. You want to give yourself ample time to view the museum at your leisure. I loved taking photos and reading the information at my leisure. They have a few booths for you to get hands on experience of flying a plane but I wasn't good at that.
It is a true museum for adults and children alike. They have a separate area for the kids to make balloon rockets. You feel that the museum has a lot to offer even if you are not an airplane enthusiast. I would recommend putting this on your list or choose this in your Seattle CityPass.
