It is great to get away from the city and head towards the country. Even better when the country is only one hour away and has a winery and picnic lunch menu. Vista D'Oro Farms is a recommended stop on the Circle Farm tours. We didn't do the circle farm tour, but knew what we wanted and went straight to Vista D'Oro Farms. We had a nice wine tasting and then ordered a picnic lunch which included a salami meat plate, cheese plate, preserves, curry hummus served with crackers because they ran out of fresh baguette. They put it all in a lovely carry basket for you to bring out to the shaded tables outside on the front lawn. Relaxing in the sunshine overlooking the vineyard and chatting with friends over a glass of wine. It's a great way to try their cheeses, preserves, and wine before you buy. I knew exactly what I wanted after the picnic lunch. I brought home brie cheese and their famous walnut fortified wine. After one sip of this unique, rich flavored fortified walnut wine, I was hooked.
