Burnaby: The ONE Taiwanese Restaurant

Last time my Taiwanese friend took me to The ONE Restaurant in Burnaby, we enjoyed ourselves and the food so much that we had to return and bring more friends.  It was great to go with a larger group because you can try more types of appetizers and dishes.  My Taiwanese friend did the ordering for all of us and it was well worth it.  She knew the perfect amount to order which we gobbled up with no leftovers.  Treat yourself to the ONE!

First you want to indulge with one of their famous fruit teas.  Since I knew we would order a hot pot, I got the small iced Passionfruit Mango Green Tea.  I love that it comes with a fancy curly straw and your refill glass.  Of course on a cold day, you can get the same tea hot in a teapot.

Next you choose your small appetizer plates. For those adventuresome eaters, here are a couple of dishes that you may wish to try.  Be careful - the fish is spicy and has real chili peppers!  Not my cup of tea but they looked colourful and unique and perhaps worth tasting once!  One of my favourite appetizer dishes was the deep fried tofu and the spicy salt and pepper chicken.  No picture cause that's how fast the chicken goes!

Last but not least are the main dishes which include the Spicy Beef Hot Pot (more flavorful than spicy).  And also the Hawaiin Fried Rice.  There were 7 of us who split the bill and gave a very generous tip for $20 each.  I didn't take pictures of all of the dishes that we tried, but his gives you a good idea.  The ONE is worth a try!
