One of the Vancouver attractions in the winter would be the winter wonderland that exists on the three mountains close to downtown Vancouver. If you want to go downhill skilling, crosscountry skiing, or snoeshoeing, you can find all of these activities on the top three Vancouver mountains below.
1. Grouse Mountain - In the winter there are a lot of different activities on Grouse Mountain other than skiing/snowboarding, and snowshoeing. First you have to ride the Grouse Mountain sky ride (a self enclosed gondola tram) to the top and you will be greeted with a pond for ice skating and sleigh rides too. Want to get inside for awhile then you can go to the Theatre in the Sky and watch an educational wildlife movie. This is the only mountain that is accessible by public transit.
2. Mount Seymour - Winter wonderland on Mount Seymour also includes tubing and toboganning in addition to the skiiing and snoeshoeing tours including a chocolate fondue snowshoe tour. Ladies ride free on Monday nights from 6-10pm. They seem to really think about the needs of all including a Baby and Me Snowshoe program. There is a shuttle bus from Lonsdale Quay that will take you to Mount Seymour.
3. Cypress Mountain - Here is the largest of the three mountains and the home of the Olympic Freestyle Skiing and Snowboard Venue for the Winter Olympics 2010. They have a snowtube park in addition to skiing and snowboarding. They also offer chocolate fondue snowshoe tours and open til 10pm during their regular season. Cypress Mountain is the "big mountain experience" and has several trails to explore.
You should check out their websites for up-to-date information on mountain and snow conditions. Go and enjoy the winter wonderland on the mountains. Add them to your list of things to do in Vancouver.
