Vancouver Downtown Restaurant: Italian Kitchen

On Mother's Day, Sunday, May 8th, I decided to take my 'new mom' friend out to brunch so she could have a baby free day and have a good start to her first Mother's Day.  We met at Kiehl's on Robson St in downtown Vancouver so I could introduce her to a skincare line that's close to her home and something new for her to try.  The customer service at Kiehl's is fabulous and they are always eager to give free samples.  She found the Kiehl's Body Care - Ultimate Strength Hand Salve 150ml/5oz to try.  Her mom hands were getting dry from the baby diaper changes.

After that we walked down 1037 Alberni St to go to the Italian Kitchen for Mother's Day brunch.  It is a nice cozy restaurant that's bright and modern.  The servers are dressed well in spring dresses and do their best to make you feel welcome and provide you with lovely dishes.  We thought it was a bit odd that they handed us the large wine list at 11:30am but I guess some moms really like to celebrate.  We stuck with elegant ice water.  I decided to try the Dungeness Crab Eggs Benedict and my friend ordered the Portobello Mushroom and Truffle Cheese Pizza.  Both were well plated and delicious!  Lovely fresh ingredients and something unique.  Those are two brunch dishes I definitely would not venture to try at home.

What was the verdict?  Take a look at the Italian Kitchen Menu yourself to decide.  My friend liked it and will bring her husband there another day for dinner to try new Italian dishes for less than $20 per entree.
