Tofino, BC

Tofino, BC. - Place where many tourists and locals alike want to go.  We had sunny skies and it was a beautiful morning for the ferry crossing from Horseshoe Bay to Nanaimo.  Then we drove the island highway to the west coast where Tofino lies.  The highway was winding and narrow  but the view was spectacular.  We stopped at the Tourist Information Centre as it was closing and were lucky enough to book a night at Chelsea's B and B.  One of the only places with space available. The B and B was within walking distance of the Tofino Fisherman's Wharf.  The hosts at Chelsea's B and B were very friendly and warm just like most of the locals.  At the small local grocery store, I was impressed with the organic, wholesome homemade bars and cookies.  I didn't buy anything but wanted one cup of coffee which the "surfer kid" at the store gave us for free because he said he would have had to throw it away anyways since it was the end of the night.  We threw in some change in the "tip" jar which was actually a donation jar for the local Tofino cat rescue association.  Now that's what I call a laid-back, easygoing lifestyle.

I would recommend visiting Tofino and staying there for longer than one night.  One night is only a taste, spend a bit of time to enjoy the lifestyle.  At Chealsea's B and B most of the other guests were booked in one of the hosts trips to the Hot Springs Cove or Whale Watching. There's quite a bit that you can explore in the area.  I definitely want to go back one day.

Points of Interest:  Long Beach, Kennedy Lake, Cathedral Grove
